We fund artisan apprenticships in Scotland through the sale of our unique duffel bags
We’re a movement of like minded individuals and businesses, creating apprenticeships to support artisans across Scotland. A social enterprise inspired by the remarkable Isobel "Tuluk" Wylie Hutchison, whose life embodied the ideals of community, sustainability and creativity.
Our mission is straightforward yet powerful. We create iconic duffel bags that stand the test of time. You buy them. And with every purchase, you’re directly preserving and revitalising skills that have shaped our culture for generations. By investing in a Tuluk bag, you’re endorsing Scotland’s craft heritage.

Scottish Artisans
We partner with local artisans and makers who share our passion for preserving Scotland’s heritage, supporting them in creating apprenticeship programmes that nurture the next generation of craftspeople.
The craftsmanship and expertise in creating tangible items by hand promotes a harmony that benefits individuals, communities, and the environment alike.
Why We Do This
Traditional crafts evolved from necessity, born out of a deep connection to the land and local resources. These skills not only fuelled economies but also
anchored cultural identities, giving people a sense of pride and place.
In today’s fast-paced, interconnected world, we’re more aware than ever of the impact of our choices—on the planet and on ourselves. As we strive for
sustainability and balance, there’s so much wisdom to be gleaned from our past.At Tuluk, we believe that the future of craft is built on the foundations oftradition, and that’s why we’re creating a Scotland-wide apprenticeship program fit for the 21st century.
Everything old is new again and with your support, Scotland’s artisanal legacy won’t just survive – it will thrive.

How We Do This
Our apprenticeships are funded by the sale of uniquely crafted duffel bags, made by hand in Dunfermline using heavy waxed cotton waste from Dundee.
With every purchase, you’re directly funding an artisan apprenticeship, supporting the future of craft and investing in something truly unique.

Who is Isobel “Tuluk” Wylie Hutchison?
A rebel of her time.
Isobel “Tuluk” Wylie Hutchison was a 20th Century botanist, Arctic explorer, artist, and writer - a local hero whose life embodied community, sustainability and Scottish resourcefulness. You can read more about her here.
Our Story
Venturing across Scotland, advising tourism businesses, I encountered the extraordinary work of local artisans – weavers in the Highlands, woodturners and ceramicists in the Borders, I saw the way they transformed local, indigenous resources into something truly unique. Their creativity and skill captivated me, yet, alongside this talent, I saw the very real danger of these traditions fading away. In 2014, I founded Craft Design House to help not only preserve these heritage skills but help them thrive.
Now, with Tuluk, we’re bridging the gap between apprentices and artisans. As a social enterprise, we support the next generation of makers, helping them to flourish and endure. Our work is funded by the sale of our uniquely crafted duffel bags, handmade in Dunfermline from heavy waxed cotton waste. With every purchase, you’re directly funding an apprenticeship, supporting the future of craft and ensuring that traditional skills are not lost in the rush of modernity.
